Catering at large festivals/events, is it worth it?

Hi, i currently own 2 mobile donut vans and do reasonably well from them. I am considering attending a couple of large events/festivals next year. I have read about people being 'ripped off' by organisers and going back on contracts. Does this happen? Whilst i understand their is a large element of risk and i am willing to gamble a couple of thousands of pounds i am very apprehensive about losing such a large amount of money. Could you advise?

To minimise your risk:

Yes, unfortunately, issues with event organisers can happen. Some traders have reported organisers changing terms at the last minute, overcharging, or not delivering on promises such as footfall or prime pitches.

To minimise your risk:

Do Your Research: Look into the event’s history and read reviews from other traders.
Get Everything in Writing: Make sure all agreements are documented and signed, including fees, pitch location, and expected attendance.
Ask for References: Speak to other traders who have attended the event before.
Start Small: Try one or two smaller, reputable events before committing to larger ones.
It’s great that you’re willing to take a calculated risk, but careful planning can help protect your investment.

Best of luck
