Hi and thank you for all your words of wisdom. Your honesty and knowledge is second to none.

Can you tell me if operation on gas is better than electric? Do you need both?

Thank you

LPG or Electric Equipment
by: David

Hello Andrew,

I would really try and stick to FULL Lpg catering equipment if you can. My first van was a mixture of both so I needed to have a generator to power the fridge, freezer and lights.

As it was my first catering vehicle, I didn’t know any better and it turned out to be a real hassle. When it came to getting the test certificates – it needed both LPG gas, electric and a P.A.T. test as I was using small appliances such as toaster, microwave etc.

Now, when I got my next catering trailer, I made sure everything was running on LPG and tailored my equipment to my menu. So I ditched the microwave and toaster which resulted in NO electric or P.A.T testing, this worked out as less hassle and expense for me.

Hope this helps,
David
