Mobile Catering Site on Britsh Waterways Land.

Hi,

I live by a canal and there is a piece of land adjacent to the canal that I think would be an ideal site for a catering trailer. I have been trying to find out about how I would go about getting permission and fees ect. I have been e mailing their estates department for the past 6 weeks and despite promises I never receive a reply.

I wondered if there is anyone else who trades on British Waterways/Canal Trust land and if they can give me any advice please?

ive been in a similair situation and the best way i found was to turn up and start trading... your bound to get a response then and normally if you have proof that your been trying to contact them then ive got the green light to give it a go

Thanks David. Would you believe I'm STILL trying to get the info, keep being passed from pillar to post. I think maybe I'll set up anyway, I'm sure they'll soon be on my case if they object and then at least I'll know who to appeal to!!

Hello There,
I personally don’t have any experience with this type of location, but I suspect it’s just a matter of persisting until you get a reply or get put in touch with someone who can advise you. It might be worth you going down there in person or calling to speak to someone, this way you will have a contact name as well.

Finally, I’ve found this link that may provides some information on starting a business on the waterways - although it’s not something you want to directly do, it might provide another way to contact someone who should be able to point you in the right direction.
