David, all.
I have been thinking for about starting my own catering business over 6 months as i am coming to then end of a long 23 year career in the military (nothing to do with catering though lol).
I’ve got to work for myself i reckon, no more being told what top do, and, not knowing where to start i came across your pages on here, full of advice and assistance.
Well, using your advice in regard to setting up i am now ready to go. The process has been completed in this order:
As you advised got a pitch first by walking up to places and knocking on there doors (got an establishment with 300 people work onsite 6 days per week)for less than £80 per month.
Passed L2 food handling/hygiene, joined NCASS(advisable as they are so helpful and gives you credibility) got my liability/trailer/product insurance, spoke to the local EHO and got checked.
Got a business account with the bank (just something i thought would be useful) joined bookers wholesalers, set up an account with calor and, finally bought a great 8" x 6" trailer from Wilkinson’s.
Now off I go selling quality food for a great price ...lol....
No seriously just need to say thanks for giving the advice on here, and, more importantly steering people in the right direction in regard to going there own way.
It goes to show with a bit of assistance anyone can do anything they want, and to all others on here who are a little bit unsure and wavey, if I can do it then anyone can.
Many thanks and good luck to all
Leigh
