Trading in 2 Different Mobile Catering Locations

I have recently started trading on a retail park. I have all the relevant permits, certs and insurance for this location but it only seems to be a viable pitch at weekends and very quiet during the week.

Can I trade at the retail park at the weekends and possibly in a lay-by during the week and if so will I need to register with environmental health again and go through the long process again?

Working on 2 Mobile Catering Locations

Hello There,

You don’t need to register with environmental health again since I’m assuming that you are already registered with them (as food business).

You will however need permission from the landowner(s) to park and trade in these other locations, and you will need to contact the council - since these will be new locations which may or may not have restrictions on them.

So yes, the long process again I’m afraid, but if these turn out to be good locations it still worth considering.

Also, this was exactly what I did when I first started out. One of my first locations was a building site for which I used to provide the breakfast during the morning.

For the afternoon I moved to an industrial estate and then a retail site on the weekends. It’s a lot of work and running around but for me it was worth it. Eventually the building site came to an end and I had the other sites to fall back on.

Hope it works out for you, best of luck

Regards,
David
