What is the best van to pull a catering trailer?

Hi

I need to buy a van to pull my catering trailer.

The trailers 3ton and 20 feet long! Need a good, reliable van, 3.5t panel van! Which is the best make n model? e.g Ford Transit, LDV Maxus, Mercedes Sprinter??

Mate no van with a pay load of 3500kg can legally tow that trailer...3000 plus 3500 = 6500 check you plate on your van max combined weight will be 5500 ish.... plus the law says any van carrying 3500 or more requires a taco.....

If you want information regarding these points I would give you the advice you need . I got procecuted. So carried out full research to get round regs.

Hi Paul,

I don't really know what the best van for towing, but I used to have a LDV 3.5 TD short wheel base high top van which did the trick for me. It was also useful having a high top as I could stand up inside and it also had enough storage space.

May be check the main dealer website of each individual manufacture to make sure each van has enough engine torque to tow a 20ft trailer.

Please also be aware of VOSA regulations as some people have problem with towing regulations, see this post for more info
